As GPS Technology has continued to develop, the Systems have become more compact, and more powerful. Many new features have been added, and there will surely be more in the future.
A significant change is in what would be considered an Off-Road GPS. While the traditional Handheld System remains very popular, some of the newer systems have become what might be termed Crossover Systems.
These Systems have larger memory and often incorporate more than one of the original concepts.
A relevant example is a System that has the traditional On-the-Road highway mapping and the associated features, and also has topographical mapping and features for use Off-Road.
